New Party Theme – Monster Baby Shower
A few weeks ago Bill and I traveled to Tulsa for a maternity photo session and Bethia and Joel’s baby shower. I had the honor of designing the invites and some of the printables (as well as helping plan it). I love party planning. It’s in my blood. It gets me excited. So when Bethia told me she wanted to do a fun outdoor monster themed baby shower I was excited at the chance to do something different.
The first step was to create an invite. We pulled the tree image from the sweet trees Joel hand painted on baby Addie’s nursery walls. The colors are also pulled from Addie’s nursery. They turned out pretty much perfect and I can’t wait to see more folks use this design.
We also created some circles and party labels for the event. I kind of love them. They’re monsters but they’re also cheery. The circles topped key lime cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and lime zest as well as dark chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
One thing I’ve wanted to do for a while was the whole cover-the-table-with-black-paper-and-write-food-labels-with-chalk thing that’s been all over pinterest. The mother-to-be and grandma-to-be and aunt-to-be were all for it so we did it for the Taco Salad Bar and I think it looked fantastic. We also created a few large signs to say HEY this is a taco salad bar.
The outdoor games were all Bethia and her family. The day before the shower Bill helped Bethia’s dad make a giant yard sized Jenga game out of 2x4s. We will be making one of these for our house for sure. It’s pretty great! There was also croquet, which the men played a very competitive game of while saying things like “well done good chap” and “cheerio” and things like that. Bill tried to find stick horses so they could play polo but alas Target was fresh out of stick horses.
Last but certainly not least, Bethia’s sister handled the decorations. I’d forgotten how fun and happy simple streamers can make a party. She certainly is a streamer pro at this point.
And that was the baby shower, in a very quick recap. Thanks to Bethia for getting pregnant so we could all celebrate. And thanks to Bethia for taking lots of instagram photos. Issabella decided to have a major freak out the moment people arrived for the shower so I spent a good deal of time trying to calm her down and didn’t take a single photo of my own. Photographer fail.
But there is designer success because now you can purchase the Monster Baby Shower printables on our etsy shop DilibertoDesign. Better yet we can customize the invite, 2″ Party circles, and all the components to turn the Monster Baby Shower into a Monster Birthday Party or just a Monster Party! Just sent us a message and we’ll get started. 🙂
